Create relation to new or existing work
As described under Authority records, there is a central relation structure between manifestation, expression and work, which constructs the core elements of a bibliographic record. The relation between these is created from the "Relation" tab in the following ways:
Link manifestation to existing expression and work
- Search for an existing expression
- Click the expression in the search results that you want to relate to the manifestation. The expression already has a relation to a work.
Link manifestation to new expression, but existing work
- Click "New expression"
- Search for an existing work
- Click the work in the search results that you want to relate to the new expression.
Link manifestation to new expression and work
- Click "New expression"
- Click "New work"
You can read more about searching authority records under Searching authority records.
TIP! If you are cataloguing a simple material without the need for an extensive description (e.g. physical objects), it is possible to omit the relation to an expression and work, and instead simply catalogue the manifestation. In that case, you just need to click the "Manifestation" tab to go directly to cataloguing the manifestation.
