Work, expression and manifestation
Work, expression and manifestation are closely interconnected, and they are therefore also catalogued in the same workflow. To provide an overview, the detail page for a manifestation is divided into sections and levels.
Sections
The values for manifestation, expression and work are divided into sections that group related information (Title, Contributors, Language, etc.). By clicking on a section, the section's values are displayed, which can then be edited by the cataloguer. The sections are placed in a logical order from top to bottom with a focus on optimising the cataloguing process, but the division into sections also makes it easy to go directly to a specific section.
Levels
Each section can have values from each of the 3 levels in the relation structure (manifestation, expression and work). Which levels have values for a given section is indicated on the right-hand side of the section. By clicking on a level, the values for the given level are displayed in the section, so the cataloguer can quickly and efficiently switch between values specified at each of the 3 levels.
Next to each level there is also a colour indicator, which tells the cataloguer the following:
- Green • : Changes have been made in this section since it was last saved.
- Grey • : NO changes have been made in this section since it was last saved.
- Red • : There are invalid values in this section, which must be corrected before it can be saved.
Move contributor between levels
If a contributor is associated with an incorrect level, it is possible to move contributors to another level (e.g. if a contributor of the type Illustrator needs to be moved from work to manifestation). This is done by clicking the "Menu" icon and then selecting which level the contributor should be moved to.
Auto-fill of classification details
When a subject is related to a work through a subject relation, the subject's classification is automatically transferred to the work. If necessary, the classification details on the work can subsequently be edited by the cataloguer.
View bibliographic record
When the cataloguing has been completed and saved, it is possible to click "View bib. record" to display the bibliographic record that results from the cataloguing. Here, the cataloguer can see whether everything is presented as expected.
