It is possible to assign a handling tag to a material, which is a marking that a material requires special handling. The following handling tags can be assigned:
- Remove from reservation shelf
- Allegedly returned
- Incorrect placement
Materials with a handling tag attached can be searched for in material search and used in sorting rules.
Automatic assignment of handling tags
Cicero can be configured to automatically assign certain handling tags to materials on certain events.
Remove from reservation shelf
Under "Admin > General settings > Bibliographic records & Materials > Handling tag for materials to be removed from the reservation shelf" Cicero can be configured to attach a handling tag to materials that are to be removed from the reservation shelf. The handling tag is added to materials in the following situations:
- The material has not been collected from the reservation shelf by the patron before the collection deadline
- The material belongs to a reservation that has been deleted after the material was placed on the reservation shelf
We recommend specifying the handling tag with the name "Remove from reservation shelf" as the value in the configuration if you wish to use the functionality. The handling tag is removed as soon as the material is returned.
Allegedly returned
Under "Admin > General settings > Bibliographic records & Materials > Handling tag for materials allegedly returned" Cicero can be configured to attach a handling tag to materials where a related loan has been renewed with the reason "Allegedly returned".
The handling tag is removed as soon as the material is returned.
If you do not wish to add a handling tag when a loan is renewed with the reason "Allegedly returned", the value in the configuration must be empty.
Read more about renewing loans under View and edit a patron's loans.
Incorrect placement
Under "Admin > General settings > Bibliographic records & Materials > Handling tag for materials with an incorrect placement" Cicero can be configured to attach a handling tag to materials that have an incorrect placement after the nightly update of materials' placement based on placement rules. The configuration is only relevant if you use placement rules to determine materials' placements, and the nightly update of placements is enabled.
We recommend specifying the handling tag with the name "Incorrect placement" as the value in the configuration if you wish to use the functionality. The handling tag is removed as soon as the material is returned.
