Under Admin > Periodicals > Number sequences you can create and maintain number sequences. Number sequences are used in name templates (see Name templates), which are linked to a periodical record via its base card (see Create base card for periodicals (PIF record)).
Number sequences are created/maintained as follows:
- Click ”Create number sequence” or select an existing number sequence in the table
- Enter a suitable name for the number sequence, e.g. "Month (number)"
- Enter the number sequence. The sequence can contain both text and numbers, separated by semicolons.
- Example: ”1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12”
- Finish by clicking Save
If you want to create an infinite sequence, you simply write ”#” in the ”Content” field. This will create a continuous number sequencing, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. This can be used, for example, for magazines whose numbering does not start over each year. When you use this, however, you must remember to switch the year yourself when the magazine changes year. This is done by opening the subscription and changing the year under the next issue.
