Under Admin > Periodicals > Name templates you can create and maintain name templates.
Periodicals can have different variations of name templates, which determine how periodicals are presented. When creating a base record for a periodical, it is possible to link the desired name template to the base record (see Create base card for periodicals (PIF record)).
The name template consists of a variation of ”Volume”, ”Number” and ”Year” and is created as follows:
- Click ”Create name template” or select an existing name template in the table
- Select the number sequence to be used for the number value.
- The sequences specify both the intervals in which periodicals are published (day, half-year, month) and the way it is written (numbers or text).
- If no suitable number sequence exists, a new sequence can be created by clicking the "Create" button
(see Number sequences).
- Specify in content how the name template should be structured. See more details about this below.
- Click "Update preview" to see an example of how the name template might look.
- Finish by clicking "Save".
- The name template can now be linked to a base record for periodicals.
The name template's content
Content is filled in as in the examples below. The range of possible values for ${number} is affected by your earlier choice of ”Number sequence”. Words in ${} are variable names (keywords), which therefore must not be changed, while the rest of the text can be changed freely. The variable names can, however, be deleted from the content if you do not want the name template to display e.g. "Volume".
Examples:
- Vol. ${volume}, no. ${number}, year ${year}
- Volume ${volume}, month ${number}, year ${year}
- no. ${number}, year ${year}
