Under Admin > Branch you can configure reservation rules for the individual branches by opening a given branch's detail page and going to the "Reservation rules" tab. Reservation rules determine the workflow for fulfilling reservations, as well as which branches materials can fulfil reservations at.
Workflow for fulfilling a reservation
When a material has been taken off the shelf for a reservation, there are three options for how the material is placed on the reservation shelf.
- Workflow for fulfilling a reservation with scanning in Cicero:
- The material is scanned in Cicero, and a reservation note with a reservation number is printed.
- Cicero sends a message to the patron stating that the material is ready for collection. The reservation number from the reservation note is included.
- Specifically for IMS customers: Cicero notifies IMS that the material is ready for collection.
- Workflow for fulfilling a reservation with scanning in an external service (e.g. IMS):
- The material is scanned on the reservation shelf via an external service.
- The external service sends the location for the reservation to Cicero.
- Cicero sends a message to the patron stating that the material is ready for collection. The location is included.
- Workflow for fulfilling a reservation with scanning in both Cicero and an external service (e.g. IMS):
- The material is scanned in Cicero, and a reservation note with a reservation number is printed.
- The material is scanned on the reservation shelf via an external service.
- Cicero sends a message to the patron stating that the material is ready for collection. The reservation number from the reservation note is included.
In the first scenario, the material and the reservation are changed to ready for collection when the material is scanned in Cicero.
In the last two scenarios, the material and the reservation are changed to ready for collection when Cicero receives a message from the external service that the material has been scanned on the reservation shelf.
