Value sets are a series of predefined values/attributes that can be added to various authority records. The values in the different value sets can be configured under Catalogue > Cataloguing > Value set. Here you can select a specific value set, after which you will be shown a table with all the values in the value set.
Create & edit value set
Retrieved values can be edited by clicking on them in the table, which opens the detail page for the value in question. If you want to create a new value in the selected value set, select "Create value", which opens a detail page in creation mode.
For a value you can specify the following:
- Name
- Cicero ID
- Reference to external sources
Name
Can be specified in different languages, so that Cicero users and borrowers will be shown the information in their preferred language.
References to external sources
When a manifestation, expression and work is automatically catalogued on the basis of a bibliographic record in external sources, it is possible to automatically select a value in a value set on the basis of data in the external source. This is done by first selecting the external source, then which field and possibly subfield Cicero should look for, and finally defining which values must be present in the external source for the value in question in Cicero to be auto-selected in the cataloguing process.
"Subfield" can also be used to specify a position in a control field:
-
Example: MARC field 008 at position 22 can be used to set the target audience as follows:
- Field: "008", Subfield: "22"
If the references should be the same regardless of source, you can select the source "Cicero". References set for "Cicero" will apply if no references are defined specifically for a given source.
Configure icons for material types
The value set "Carrier type" is used to set the material type for a record in Cicero. Here the references, in addition to determining which material type a record should be, can also be used to determine which icon should be displayed in connection with a specific material type. This is done as follows:
- Select "Cicero" as the source.
- Leave "Field" and "Subfield" empty.
- Insert the value for the desired icon under "Value".
